The Castle Hotel - New Beginnings

The work at the Castle Hotel has begun and we're here to give you an early check in with the work that has commenced. The intial rip out has been moving along at pace. Inside had been cleared by the previous owners and the bedrooms and bar areas were now laid bare, but for the conversion taking place we needed to rip the building right back to its basic shell.

The clear out commenced working from upstairs downwards and consisted of numerous jobs all with the aim of taking the building back to the original shell. Just a few of the tasks included in this amongst others were ripping out all the bathrooms and old plumbing systems, clearing the plaster off the walls taking them back to brick, removing all the skirtings, door frames and wood out the property, and clearing the old electric cables and circuits.

Once the clear out was completed, the new internal layout for the 13 flats being created could start to be mapped out. New steels were installed to help provide support where walls needed to be removed, and doorways bricked up with new doorways created where necessary to marry up with the new layout. The joinery team then stepped in to start putting up the stud work which will form the internal walls.

The stud work is continuing to go up and the door frames being installed at the moment, and it won't be long until the 1st fixes of plumbing and electrics can start to be installed.

Look out on the blog for regular updates on this exciting project!
